Not long ago I decided that I was at a point in my life where I had had enough. I was the heaviest that I had ever been, I felt terrible inside and my mental state was out of control. My self-esteem was taking a beating and the depression was setting in.
I have always felt that the only way to lose weight was by doing cardio and eating as little as possible. But that wasn’t working for me any longer. I had never lifted weights and thought that hiring a personal trainer was a waste of money. But desperate times called for desperate measures.
So I joined a gym and decided to do a consultation with a personal trainer. I sat down with Julio Ybarra and he explained how lifting weights, doing cardio and understanding nutrition play such an important part in life for you to become truly happy and healthy.
I decided to give it a try to see if this young man could truly make me believe in exercise (weights and cardio), not starving myself and most importantly believing in myself. He listens intently and comes up with solutions that work for me. I can honestly say that I haven’t been the easiest client that he has had but he has changed my life in such a positive way.
I still have a little ways to go to get to my goal weight, but I have learned to be patient and make this a lifestyle change. I feel so much happier about myself. I no longer worry about being the fat lady in the casket because I died of obesity. I love to exercise, I now love to run and am much closer to understanding how my body needs the nutrition to function, and how my mental state of mind keeps me young and happy.
